I have over 30 years in systems and networking dating back to the days of Windows 3.11 and Novell NetWare, when IT personnel literally lived in caves (ok, we had a tiny office and a closet with one or two PS/2 model 65s and the very first 3Com Fast Ethernet switch strewn about with a mix of 10M and token-ring gear).
Since then, I have been building server farms and networks ranging in size from small offices to enterprise racks, with networks spanning the globe and tens of thousands of endpoints.
My current fascination is with long-range data gathering, telemetry, and analysis. With a close friend and associate, I have recently been developing a system that can aggregate data from tens of thousands of sensors, at ranges up to 10km, using off-the-shelf LoRaWAN® hardware and a custom-built, fully-redundant in-house system.
We are currently building out a production-worthy system that will allow individuals and businesses to deploy a wide range of sensors with infinite possibilities for data analysis, presentation, and archival.
